CNC Milling & Stamping of a High Strength Steel Spring Seat Bracket for the Automotive Industry

A Michigan automotive industry client contracted us to manufacture 500 spring seat brackets. At Sherwood Prototype, Inc. we specialize in short run manufacturing work; our facility is geared towards the special needs of this niche, which require a wide range of manufacturing capabilities.

This particular product was designed to hold coil springs and struts in place on a passenger vehicle, this high stress application required the use of a high strength steel. The raw material was cut on our 5 axis laser cutter, which formed the tailored blanks with finished trim. The part was then stamped and CNC milled, with laser cutting again being used to provide a final trim. The finished seat bracket measured 177mm in diameter, 64mm in height, and met tolerances of ±.005", all of which were verified by CMM dimensional inspections. Completed with an E-coating, the parts were delivered to the customer along with their certificate of compliance with a 4 week turn around.
